I’ll be in Europe for planned spring hiking in a few weeks. Prior to a trip I’m usually hoping for cold and precipitation. This time I’m hoping for warm and sunny. It’s been an unusually cold April and May so far……

Shiga Kogen is large but the individual areas (some of which are lift linked or bus linked) are small. The individual areas have there own lift ticket and many Japanese people buy the pass for the small area where their lodging is and stick to that sector.

Only 8 days in Japan for me. All new areas. My plan was to have another 15 days in the Alps but my flight was cancelled due to drone strikes on the stopover airport in Qatar. I'm not 100% yet but I plan to ski Mt Ruapehu in NZ's north island in October. I'm hoping the world has enough jet fuel...

I consciously overlooked some well known ski areas when in Japan a couple of months ago and opted for unknown small hills some days. I will still ski big areas in the future but I’m more inclined to think like James from now on.

I don’t think people will hold off buying passes for next year. Most folks will be of the opinion that it’s highly unlikely to have two shocker seasons in a row.

I had no idea the NE had a great season in 76-77. Interesting. Do banner seasons in the west often amount to lean years in the NE?

I too hang at the back of the plane. I too have a long haul in the coming weeks. I'll be disappointed if I don't get an unbroken 6 hours at some point and a total of 9 hours. I'll report back.

I have been playing semi regular golf recently. As usual I am consistently inconsistent. A brilliant shot is often followed by an atrocious shot. But a golf course is such a nice place to be. Yesterday from Bribie Island about 40 minutes north of my house. Been playing @jamesdeluxe ?
