    Mashed potatoes

Wow, did that snow change today. Untracked snow turned from powder to mashed potatoes to cement. I took a day off from the ski hill and broke trail on my land with a few friends. It was stiff and sticky. But it is still snowing here and I'm going to try to catch some early morning colder snow...

7 feet at Hunter and counting

rather than spend all that time and effort resizing and saving newly sized pix, you can upload them to an picasaweb or facebook album. Once they are in a web album, right click on the image and go to properties. You can then find the image link and you can use the Img button and copy/paste that...

Best Powder Day at Greek Peak Feb 26, 2010

Today was one of the best powder days I've ever had a Greek Peak. With 18" of snow, the problem was the pitch (or lack thereof) in some places. My snowboarder friend got caught up in it a few times. Here's a brief report with a coupla pix. http://harvey44.blogspot.com/2010/02/gr ... 22610.html...

    Greek Peak Feb 25, 2010

It's freakin Geek Peak! The signs are for insurance purposes. One of them says "Challenge yourself Ungroomed Trail, if unfamiliar with skiing Nature's snow conditions seek advice from Greek Peak ski instructors". The one below that says "Edge of trail not clearly defined, do not ski outside of...

    Greek Peak Feb 25, 2010

Broke out of work at noon and was on the snow by 1pm. Hard to say how much there was, maybe 5 or 6" but with continuous replenishment throughout the afternoon. When I arrived Acidchrist was coming in from his morning rounds for lunch, so I went out by myself to try out my new-to-me Gotamas on...

    Jay Peak 2/21/10

The ice fog created quite a bit of rime and held up the tram. It was actually quite impressive to see them de-riming the tram on Monday they had to close all the trails that were under the tram line on Monday as well as the Bonnaventure lift until the tram work was done all my pix were...

    Wasatch weather question

I'm guessing that "Dirty Ridge" may be describing the brown smog that will fill the Salt Lake City basin.

Greek Peak Sun Feb 21 2010

Nice pics! Acidchrist has been reporting good conditions since last week. We've had 2" a day for a good number of days within the last week or so. No big dumps, but plenty to refresh and make for decent skiing.

    Jay Peak 2/21/10

Yesterday's ice fog glazed up a few things, especially the lifts, which took a while to de-ice, but thankfully 4-6" of snow fell on top of that, redeeming what could have been difficult conditions. http://harvey44.blogspot.com/2010/02/ja ... 22110.html and if you want to see all my pix from...

    Belleayre 2.21.10

all my pix are from my Iphone. They are not high quality, but they do take a decent snapshot and do some good video for a device that works well for communications and navigation and a whole lotta other things. The indoor shots are grainy, and the lighting on snow can be tricky, best when sunny...

Powder Mountain adds 1000 sidecountry acres

I've loved Powmow and we seem to hit it pretty good each time. Early Feb is probably a good time for it. Even in a low snow year, Powmow delivered the fresh snow on massive acreage.

    Greek Peak Current Conditions

Well, I still haven't gone to a ski area since Snowbird. Even with 2" of snow daily this week, I was tempted, but opted to go home and watch the women's downhill instead, which I think was probably much more exciting than riding Chair 1a for 10 minutes and skiing bumps on Fields for 2 minutes...

    Alta, UT 2/14/2010

The right side traverses and side step climbs outnumber the left at Alta. I was having a significant amount of pain in my right patella which kept me from doing the backside climb to high notch and really limited how much hiking I wanted to do. I could manage the traverses ok if they were with...
