FTO now brings free "Powderhound Snow Alerts" to y

I got my reports only by going directly to http://www.rubbersnow.com. I guess the FTO link is dead?

Ski Wheels [Automotive propellant necessary to begin ski day

Oh, I absolutely agree. I was making a joke, Tony. Other AWD's included the Ford 500 and Infiniti G35X. I am probably leaning towards a used A6 Quattro.

Ski Wheels [Automotive propellant necessary to begin ski day

The un-obvious candidate, much to my suprise, as pulled up by consumerreports.org is.... Jaguar X-type! Believe it, an AWD. Worst repair record not counting the Lada, but you sure arrive in style.

Ski Wheels [Automotive propellant necessary to begin ski day

I'd like to hear your recommendation for Ski Wheels. In particular, I'm in the market for a sedan which seats 5 adults comfortably and would be appropriate for 10 months of city driving and 2-3 months of driving into New England mts. for ski daytrips. I have sucessfully navigated with FWD for...

Do You Count Days, Vertical, Both, or Neither?

None of the above. I count nothing but good days when I arrive home safely, smile on my face, crash into bed and sleep like a baby. At my age, there is nothing I need to prove and nobody to impress; I make the most of each day; you never know when it could be your last.

How many pair of skis/boards do you have in your basement?

about 10, but geez, it's for my whole family. I wish the question had been scoped...

    Pico, where are you?

I'm at a loss to find a web presence for Pico. Most links redirect me to killington.com where Pico info is pretty much non-existent. The web http://www.picomountain.com appears official but is sadly dated with most all links broken. I'm trying to see the usual stuff: stats for Pico, 1st day...

    Magic Mountain sold

It was on my "must ski" list this year, but the weather never materialized, so I wasted my voucher. I've gotta get there after they install snowmaking but before they gentrify the trails next year.....

Stowe Holy Sh*t Powder Pics March 4th

I'll backup powderfreak. I was in the woods at Stowe all Sunday AM /today. It was heaven, high or low on the mt. Even on the low elevations, I was in at *least* 12" of fresh powder. Strange, no one else was in it. They were all standing in line waiting for the quad and gondola to go off...

    Stowe/Smuggs

sheesh :( , bad choice of words. My point about time spent still stands.

    Stowe/Smuggs

I stay with friends at Stowe. I've done both the ski across to Smugglers and have driven. Unless it is snowing heavily, the roads will be fine. It will take you the same amount of time to skin across the top as to drive. Unless you either want to save the planet(less gas) or just say you've...

Potential for and ESD at Jay Peak

I just checked the JP report, sounds like an ESD may be in order: (Emergency Snow Day) 2/21/6 Heavy Snow at 10:30am Heavy snow is currently falling here across the resort and has been for several hours. Forecasters are calling for an additional 2-3" over the next 24 hours or so. With 4? (1...

    Stowe, VT, 2/12/06

rained like lleh all day today. Lightning struck the quad, then 102mph gusts at the summit. slush conditions today, forecast for zero degrees tonight should make for an awesome GS skate day on Saturday. They should probably sell a couple more $1M+ "cottages" this weekend....

At what point should I look into buying skis?

In addition to excellent advice already forwarded, there are also a couple of intrinsic reasons to consider your own equipment, boots or boots & skis: a) you become familar and comfortable with one set of gear and can focus on your own skills and b) you get to control the maintenance of skis -...

Landed at Mt. Snow. It was great day. Even woods skiing wasn't too bad.

    loon tomorrow?

Anyone know how conditions are at Loon, for skiing tomorrow? If you could choose between Mt. Snow and Loon, who has the better conditions right now? Thanks,

    go 2 stowe?

Sugarbush and MRG are both offering 1/2price tix. MRG reports ?a lot of water on the mtn?, SB is closing the tops of the mtns to make snow for the weekend. I suspect that Stowe will working hard for better weekend conditions and that perhaps Friday will look more like a ?construction zone...

    go 2 stowe?

Need your opinion whether it's worth heading up to Stowe for a Friday ski tomorrow. I've already got a voucher, and a place to stay, but I'm almost inclined to hold back and hope for better conditions another Friday this season. I'd hate to burn up a vacation day and a tix voucher, then again...
