It's sad that skiers are getting so soft they can't ride a T-bar unless they're "advanced". Even a long, steep T-bar isn't that tough to ride. Sheesh.

The Kennebago T-bar is extremely steep. Most of it's length is through extremely dense "krummholz" thick spruce growth that's impossible for anythong bigger than a rabbit to get through except for a couple places where "emergency exits" have been cut through to the nearest trail. Then you get to the top which is steep, exposed, and normally icy. Conclusion: You don't want to ride it unless you are thoroughly comfortable on a T-bar AND can take care of yourself in a double-diamond situation if you do fall off. It will be missed, I suspect especially on windy days, but S-back's oint about getting non-advanced skiers to the top of the mtn. is legit.

Guy Thibaudeau from Skinet and le réseau MRG. He's been giving ski report and talking ski in French and English since I've been a kid. Anyway, he has a blog with the LaPresse newspaper (French). In this blog, he gives us a bunch of dates for Quebec areas.

With the record snowfall and snowpack in much of Quebec, many ski areas    have decided to extended their season. What else are people going to do, go golfing with a couple feet of snow on the ground? I'm only mentioning Quebec ski areas which are mentioning extending behond April 6. This is last possible date, some will be open midweek, weekend or Sturday only. Check with them first.

edit: I've placed all the updated and placed the Quebec closing dates on the first post.

Some updates...

Cannon NH: April 13 (maybe 20)
MRG VT: April 13 (maybe 20 or more)

Massif du Sud QC: April 20 (extended from 13th)
Mont Adstock QC: April 13 (extended from the 6th)
Mont Comi QC: April 13 (maybe more)

One kinda fun thing at Gore. In May, North Creek has a weekend were "Thomas the Train" comes for the enjoyment of the little kids. The idea is to get families to come and a spend some money before bug season. Last year they ran the Gondi for "scenic rides." They were quite surprised when a bunch of hardcores showed up with skis and went to the top for an afternoon of turn-earning. If they do it again, I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen again. Kind of the unofficial closing day.

Unfortunate about the T bar being removed at Saddleback ( never been but without going probably my type of place ) but will add my 2 cents worth and say once it is gone it is gone for good . There is no going back to classic skiing as I have also seen it happen too many times .

If you want them to stay open, everybody go skiing. I am. :D Not sure if I detour toward Whiteface or Tremblant (weather related) while going to Montreal? MRG on Saturday.

Go skiing...deals are everywhere. $35 at MRG, 2for $60 at Cannon, $50 at WF...cheap skiing for great skiing season is here. :P

Thanks for the kitty update Rog.

Update information from Mont Alta QC (late April or early May), Mont Cascades and Vorlage (April 13) also added Mont Miller (open next weekend, but no closing date) + information for Eastern ski areas in Canada from Ontario, New Bruswick and Newfoundland & Labrador.

Now, I don't think I'm leaving anyone out.

I've updated the info for Sunapee NH. I also forgot to put up the info for Mont Ste-Marie (Ottawa local).

patrick, where are you getting that may 4th date info for wildcat?

Icelanticskier gave me that information.

There are few changes. A few ski areas decided not to re-open for this weekend. It's been really warm this week plus forecast is calling for some precipitations (rain or snow), so instead of running lift for almost no one, so some are calling it a season.

I'll try to update the list on Friday evening.

This is what I know now (I did a quick check, especially for my locals). Edelweiss QC, Cascades QC, Gunstock NH, Hunter NY

Other news:

Bretton Woods: April 20
Sugarbush: April 27 (maybe May 5)
