Eastern Closing dates 2007-08

Jay Peak is trying for next weekend, which is new.

**It's official, Jay is making it this weekend.

Sugarbush, VT: May 5 (if possible) -weekend only

**Jay Peak, VT: May 4 - weekend only
Sugarloaf ME,: May 4 - everyday

Mont Saint-Sauveur, QC: May 11 (if possible) - weekend only

**edit: April 29, 4:25pm (if possible removed for Jay).

Despite the record heat a lot of the Laurentian hills still have skiable coverage ,especially the snow making trails . However it's beach weather down in Montreal so no chance on getting the casual skier out. VB tried to give it a shot and ended up closing on Saturday afternoon instead of Sunday as no one showed up . Don't worry, everyone will be back in November to ski the one run of granular with the sun hanging low on the horizon. :?

Yep, Frankontour posted a TR (in the member only extreme zone) with him skiing Avila, Gabriel, Chanteclerc and Alta + some runs at Vallée Bleue with the help of chairlift. From his pics, definitely great coverage.

No kidding.

Jay Peak has confirmed that yes, they will reopen this Saturday and Sunday. Same deal as last weekend: BBQ and $25 two-day lift tickets, although a portion of this weekend's revenues will be donated to local little league teams. Full story in tomorrow morning's news update.

Does any of the Loaf regular or semi-regular know is they will be running more than the quad this weekend? I was considering maybe another long drive this weekend, but not if there is only 6 runs.

Jay has become a real possibilty, especially that I'm going to be in Montreal for a funeral service on Saturday. :( Plus hoping to be back on the following Tuesday for a Game 7 in Montreal (which I managed to get tickets).

What a bad week. :(

I hope to be there Saturday, maybe Sunday too. I would guess this weekend will be it for Jay but you never know....if they get favorable weather, who knows????

They have 24 trails open know. They are looking at others. 8 inches of snow overnight. I doubt they will open another lift, but I hope they do.

I

3 different areas confirmed they're going to be open at least for Saturday. Still no confirmation from MSS.

Here is the news from Sugarbush:

Wednesday, April 30th, 3:50 p.m.

It's not quite over yet. There's still at least one more day remaining in this EPIC season - possibly even two. We'll spin the Super Bravo lift this Saturday, May 3rd with skiing and riding on the Valley House Traverse, Stein's Run and Coffee Run. It is likely that some walking will be required to get down from the end of Coffee Run to the Bravo lift, so it will be a real spring experience.

The Bravo lift will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and like last weekend a BBQ at the Castlerock Pub will begin at 11:30 a.m. Lift tickets will be just $25 for all.

The call on Sunday will be made on Saturday so stay tuned and I'll see you up here for one last hurah!

MONT ST-SAUVEUR

News from Mont St-Sauveur. The reason for the uncertain openning on Sunday is forecast related.

END OF THE SEASON SCHEDULE

Monday to Friday, April 28 to May 2 >>> CLOSED
Saturday May 3 >>> Opened from 8:30 am to 5 pm
Sunday May 4 >>> To be confirmed
Saturday & Sunday, May 10-11 >>> To be confirmed

*Please note that opening hours may vary according to the weather.

2 runs will be open: Hill 70 West and Nordique served by the triple.

SUGARLOAF

Another picture perfect day here at Sugarloaf as we get ready for our final weekend of the season. Conditions have been outstanding here today, with Wednesday's eight inches of fluff turning into perfect corn thanks to some warm temps. Forecasts are looking pretty good for tomorrow, with temps expected in the 50s and partly sunny skies for most of the day, so come and get your final turns of the year and the one and only King of Spring.

We'll have 23 trails open for you again tomorrow, and groomers will be out on six of those again tonight. Lift service is scheduled on the SuperQuad once again tomorrow, and lift tickets are just $39 for adults and young adults, and just $30 for juniors and seniors all week long.

JAY PEAK

Thanks to cold temps this week and a 2-3" of natural snow, we'll be offering up skiing and riding both Saturday and Sunday weather permitting (it's supposed to pour Sunday). Lift tickets are just $25 for a two-day ticket and a BBQ will be bbq'ing at the Jet Triple with music and stoke.

Come say hello, then say goodbye. It's been a great year.

SUGARBUSH

Friday, May 2nd, 1:21 p.m.

It's not quite over yet. There's still at least one more day remaining in this EPIC season - possibly even two. We'll spin the Super Bravo lift tomorrow and have 5 runs of top-to-bottom skiing and riding for you: Valley House Traverse, Stein's Run, Spring Fling, Snowball, and Coffee Run. No hiking required!

The Bravo lift will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and like last weekend a BBQ at the Castlerock Pub will begin at 11:30 a.m. Lift tickets will be just $25 for all.

The call on Sunday will be made on Saturday so stay tuned and I'll see you up here for one last hurrah!

THERE ARE A BUNCH OF QUESTIONS MARKS FOR SKIING SUNDAY FROM 3 OF THE 4 REMAINING AREAS. FORECAST FOR SUNDAY IS QUESTIONABLE. ODDS ARE THAT THIS IS THE LAST LIFT ASSISTED WEEKEND OF THE SEASON...SO GO IF YOU CAN.

Closing dates...

Sugarbush - May 3 (maybe May 4)
Jay Peak - May 3 (maybe May 4)
Mont St-Sauveur - May 3 (maybe May 4, 10-11)
Sugarloaf - May 4

Sugarloaf posted May 5th as their closing date on the electronic scoreboard by the Superquad today (5/3). Truly impressive cover left on the open trails. They could easily stay open for another weekend if they focused on running Spillway, but they're only running the Superquad. Too bad, it's mashed potatoes where they push it in at the very bottom.

Tote Road is closed. Skidder, Hayburner, and King's Landing were groomed. Sluice developed a decent piste. Everything else is rutted up from the snowfall at the end of the last "event" freezing and setting pretty hard. Saturday was cloudy and cool--no melting, so the ungroomed trails didn't loosen up.

Good "earn your turns" for another month, easy.

MSS closed today due to heavy rain , they might open next weekend with one boring run . Doesn't mean much to me anyway as they are still charging double $30.00 /4 hrs or $35.00 all day ) of what I paid at Alta all year :? Who knows maybe a hike up Tremblant next weekend . Have to see what's left after another week of melting .

Yep I hear you, the loaf are charging $25 today plus Bush and Jay were also at $25 this weekend. Adding one extra week to this incredible streak is probably not worth it for me, unless someone can convince to go. Probably finished my Eastern liftserved skiing on a high for less money.

Jay Peak and Sugarbush closed for the season yesterday Sunday May 4th.
Sugarloaf extended one extra day to ski 20 runs in the sun for one last day (like yesterday was pretty wet). MSS, like Anthony said, didn't open yesterday and are hoping for next weekend.

CLOSING DATES:

Jay Peak VT: May 4
Sugarbush VT: May 4
Sugarloaf ME: May 5
MSS: May 3 (if possible reopenning May 10-11).

Skied Saturday with my oldest son. Haynes, Jet and a couple of other trails were open. Haynes and Jet were top to bottom, other trails requires a little slogging. BBQ...yes. Music....nope. Stoke...sure. Weather was wet and cool, in the low 40's. Stopped raining after noon. Snow was pretty good...alternating between patches of "eastern hardpack" and areas of nice spring corn. Getting pretty thin at the bottom of Haynes. Solid cover on the jet. Still pretty impressive snow cover in a lot of areas, just not continuous from top to bottom. Blew Sunday off as it was raining pretty good in the morning. Low cloud ceiling. I'm done with lift served for the year. Maybe hit Tuckerman's once more if the schedule and weather cooperate.

Yes, it was. 8) Stopped raining for maybe our last two runs, Kitzwoods and Can-Am.

Way to get after it Patrick! How was Can-Am? I couldn't see it on Saturday. Upper mountain (top 1/3) of Jet was fogged in on Saturday. Everything was still pretty wet when I loaded the car Sunday so it wouldn't have been too pleasant. My son skied free on his Earn Your Turns voucher. Last one of the year. 8)
