I 'd much rather have a scenic 12 hr drive than deal with airlines......and the terrain does compare

A little too far to drive to from NYC, that's a major road trip. With lifts these mountains would be fine regardless of the weather. A nice town at the base where they speak french, have good poutine, man that would be one of the top places in North America. These photos rock, thanks...

Well, I suppose if your skiing sucks more often than not and often ends the earliest in North America, I guess all you can do is wonder about hypotheticals.

Seriously, you should ski more. Maybe you wouldn't be so competitive. :brick:

The number is 5. We lost a few this weekend, but hey, this isn't new. The hills aren't busy, many folks have moved on to Spring cleaning mode.

Unless your going to climb somewhere like the Chic Chocs, the Presidentials or a close ski area, this coming weekend would seem to be the last liftserved weekend of the season in the East:

Actual words found on their snowreports:

Mont St-Sauveur, QC: reopening May 2-3

Jay Peak, VT: strong potential to reopen May 2-3

Sugarbush, VT: possibly reopen May 2-3

Killington, VT: everyday until Saturday May 2 (it is odd)

Sugarloaf, ME: everyday until May 3

The story I've heard is that a Saturday closing is to avoid bumping into another pay period. Their payroll runs Sunday to Saturday. "Odd" doesn't even begin to describe some of the decisions at Killington.

The loaf will make it to Sunday, but with just he super quad. i got to ski off Spillway on monday. Nito and Gondi were sweet.
Traverses and runs outs were really shaky. Last night they got to move some snow around to get Candy side in better shape. Hayburner, Skidder, Kings Landing and tote will be it for the season. Tote road up top was really nice. Flat , but good snow. Kings Landing had one weak spot near the bottom, that probably can be fixed with a cool night. Looks like that could be tonight. Skidder had the most snow on it. Plenty of snow up top. The run outs probably will need to be rebuilt again. I give the loaf credit, they connected the dots for a few days to keep Spillway open. Monday was just awesome.

So here it is folks!!!

Get out and ski. I'll be surely somewhere this weekend, but I'll go where the weather takes me and where I can get a ride too.

Jay Peak:

reopening this weekend, May 2nd and 3rd. The Jet Triple will be spinning with access to The Jet and The Haynes (advanced terrain only). Lift tickets will be $39 for adults and $29 for juniors, and tickets purchased Saturday will be valid for skiing on Sunday.

Killington: closing SATURDAY MAY 2

9 trails.
Adult: $49.00
Young Adult/Senior: $41.00
Junior/Senior Plus: $35.00

Sunshine and spring weather for Thursday as we enjoy the final three days of the season here at Killington. Enjoy spring skiing and riding through Saturday off the Superstar Express! Killington is offering Blue Square and Black Diamond terrain only.

Sugarbush:

It is 99% certain that we will be open this weekend."
Sugarbush president Win Smith

I'll thow in the extra percentage point and say this weekend's a 'go.' (Barring any kind of cataclysmic weather event, of course:)

We still have a heaping of snow on Stein's and the plan right now is to spin the Valley House double from 9 AM to 5 PM on Saturday and Sunday. The mountain crew will try to piece together a route on Upper Snowball to have some intermediate terrain, but expect this last weekend to be a "Mogul Mania."

The lift ticket for the entire weekend (Saturday and Sunday) will be only $39. Anyone bringing a valid 08/09 season pass from another area can ski for $29. (This includes Mt. Ellen pass holders.) Sugarcard holders will also ski/ride for $29. An 2009-10 All-Mountain 7 season pass will be raffled off at 5:00 PM Sunday. All ticket buyers, pass holders and Sugarcard holders can fill-out their raffle ticket at the ticket window in the Gate House Lodge.

Sugarloaf:

Thanks to last night's cooler temperatures groomers were able to go to town on our open terrain. They buffed out Hayburner, Candy Side, King Landing, and the east side of Skidder, making for a fun day of skiing as we beat the heat and enjoy these last days of skiing for the 08-09 season! Ticket prices are a flat $35 for all ages through the end of the season, so come on up and snag your final turns! It's worth it to know you milked this snow to the last drop!

Just like yesterday, expect surfaces to be on the firm side again this morning because of last night's temps and keep in mind that we're deep into spring conditions these days and bare spots do exist, and some walking may be required in certain locations.

Skiing and swimming at the beginning of May, does it seem possible? Yes it is, because the new Mont Saint-Sauveur pool & spa will be in operation as soon as this Saturday. For the event, a huge party is organized on the slopes and besides the pool and the spas! Skiing, swimming, DJ, BBQ, contests and prizes are on the program for the weekend. You do not want to miss this party!

MEMBERS OF ALL STATIONS
Guests with a 2008-2009 season pass from any ski resort in Quebec are invited to ski for only $15 at Mont Saint-Sauveur until the end of the season. You just have to present your season pass at the Customer Service and you will get a full-day lift ticket.

By the fact that the Bush has been spinning lifts this spring until 5PM I think it is the last resort to close in the east for 2009. Wahoo! =D>

I was just kidding. Bravo to Bush, Jay and the Loaf. =D>

I called BS for years on MSS marketing. Again this year, they mentioned skiing in June... :bs:

Someone posted this on Zoneski...

Skiing until June...posted on their website at sometime this season. Note, MSS has made it to June only once in their existence.

No they don't, the snow is stored somewhere (not sure where). Some people mentioned about the huge amount of snow from the snowpark that disappeared prior to the end of the season. A few people from ZS poached the rest of the snow at the end of the camp. It was huge surprise last year.

Topic on Zoneski (in French) by our friend Frankontour.

Du ski au Québec en juillet encore cette année !, 2 au 6 juillet au Mont Avila
