I was also baffled by their grooming. They had everything in the direction of Great Eastern roped off so you had to do Snowshed/Skyeship to get to Bear where they actually had lifts running. I again presume their austerity budget has them short staffed and they didn't have the fleet out all night.

I don't know what mountain Skiingsnow was at today. It was flat, firm, and pretty boring out there. Upper Dream Maker was, err, interesting with 8" of windblown over ice bumps. If you stayed on easy ungroomed like Great Bear, Vagabond, SC, and lower Patsy's, it was a nice surface. Anything steeper was pretty beat up after people had sideslipped the snow off. Things like OL, Superstar, and Double Dipper were edgeable but monotonous after a lap or two.

the more that move west the better, more for us back here.
Wishful thinking. When the "big" areas are barely 1,000 acres, skier density is always going to be an issue. No surprise that icelantic and Riverc0il spend a fair amount of time earning turns to find better snow and escape the thundering hordes.

Nice to see the "April syndrome" affects the East too, though.

If you avoid the usual suspects, density is never an issue.

It's also not issue, because there some excellent propaganda concerning that the East is not as good.

It takes a real fuckwad to cross post like this.

See actually Tony is on our side...publishing all the reasons to move out west. More for us.....or...maybe...Tony really secretly lives in MASH and he's trying to cut down on traffic and competition for the goods.

FWIW density is only a problem for me when I'm trying to get at my boot bag in the base lodge at the end of a long day.

I made a lot of invidious Powdr Corp comparisons vs. Bachelor at the beginning of the season. Further investigation indicated that while Powdr was not going to shower Killington with outside $, they would at least not be taking money out and were going to give some existing management there a chance to improve the experience.

So I decided to hold my fire for awhile and wait and see how the first season turned out. Perhaps I will have to browse other forums to find out :( .

When I get a chance to make it across the border, Kmart is far down the list of places I want to go. It wasn't always that way and it's going to take a lot to change that. :o

From Killington's site....

Due to State of Vermont Liquor Laws governing alcoholic beverages in public places, specifically related to prohibited acts, Bear Mountain Mogul Challenge spectators and competitors will not be allowed to bring alcoholic beverages to the event

Funny video and joegm will agree with post #3.

yes i do james, but it's become a waste of time to take it seriously anymore....
on another note, that clip from fistful pretty much defines why, at this point in my ski " career " , i enjoy skiing more in july than i do in the winter....the glacier in july is just heaven on earth for anyone who really likes skiing bumps with soft snow and not having to ski with face mask to keep your face from breaking in half :P

Killington is giving us an extra week of skiing. Instead of closing on April 13th, they're extending it to April 20th.

yeah, exactly...
so keeping in the spirit of "giving" of the truly evil men who are running killington mountain resort, i'm gonna " give " anyone who wants it, a free 20 dollar bill...just send me self labled stamped envelope with a 50 dollar bill enclosed and i will " give " you back a nice 20 dollar bill...

they really suck

loon announced april 13th...they will close with top to bottom...it's a virtual lock

geoff , you there .....

Yep. I'm here. Lots of bumps on OL now manufactured for the bump contest this weekend. There have been bumps on skier's right all year. For the last week, you probably didn't want to venture over to that side.

I realize you don't want the facts to intrude on your alternate universe but Killington has always 50% groomed Outer Limits unless they've just resurfaced it or had significant natural snow. As I said earlier in the thread, if you want perpetual ungroomed, you only have to go one trail over to Devils Fiddle. Back when Preston Smith owned the place and they actually blew snow on it, they used to groom Fiddle, too. OL and Fiddle face east and are relatively low elevation. They'd be unskiable much of the time without grooming.
