New Executive Director Announced for Alpine Ontario

Collingwood (ON), Canada – The Board of Directors of Alpine Ontario Alpin has announced that after an extensive search, James Lazor has accepted the role of the ski racing organization’s Executive Director.

“Our vision is to promote enjoyment and excellence in ski racing at every level, which stimulates visibility, inspiration and growth in the ski community,” Craig Farrow, Chairman of the Board for Alpine Ontario Alpin, said in making the announcement. “James has the strength of character, over two decades of sports marketing and business skills and ski industry management experience best suited to lead Alpine Ontario as we aim to become a leader and contributor to the Canadian and international alpine skiing scene.”

Lazor’s duties in alpine ski racing management have included everything from developing sponsorship/partnership opportunities to engaging with Race Organizing Committees for effective delivery of ski racing programs nationally and internationally, to assisting with the consolidation of all snow sports in New Zealand into one organization. His education includes a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Vermont, and an MBA in International Management from Thunderbird, the Garvin School of International Management, in Arizona. He is married with two young daughters, and will relocate to Collingwood.

“I am excited about the opportunity to work with everyone to build Alpine Ontario,” said Lazor. “This is a logical progression from my most recent experience as Alpine Director of Snow Sports New Zealand, involved in building programs for ski racing at all levels, and developing creative partnerships to deal with tight resources. Alpine Ontario’s new strategic plan demonstrates the board’s commitment to serving the members and I look forward to the opportunity.”

Lazor participated at last week’s Alpine Ontario Annual General Meeting in an unofficial capacity. George Knowles, who took a leave from the Alpine Ontario board to serve as Executive Director on an interim basis, will continue until Lazor and his family have officially relocated to Collingwood.
