Adidas Launches New Snowboard Gear and Apparel Line

Portland, OR – Running and ball sports brand Adidas is preparing a new line of gear and apparel for a fall debut, this time for snowboarding.

First jointly announced in January at the SnowSports Industries America show in Denver, Colo., and the ISPO trade show in Munich, Germany, new snowboard boots, goggles, clothing and more from Adidas will appear on retailer shelves in North America, Europe, Scandinavia and Chile this year.

The 2013 -14 line features three distinct snowboarding boots for men and women, intended for both resorts and the backcountry, and roughly 60 articles of snowboarding apparel from base and mid-layers to premium technical snowboarding jackets and pants, all to be sold in snowboard specialty retailers.

Highlights of the footwear collection include The Blauvelt signature boot, The Samba – a modified adaptation of the classic soccer boot – and the Samba W, a women’s specific boot. The apparel collection features all levels of technical outerwear from park jackets and hoodies to Gore-Tex jackets and pants and a unique one-piece snow track suit. The goggle program integrates the design language from footwear and apparel, with technical optical features.

To establish the brand’s credibility with riders, Adidas has also launched its new pro rider team including Jake Blauvelt, Kazu Kokubo, Eric Jackson, Helen Schettini, Forest Bailey and Keegan Valaika.  Adidas Snowboarding will support the collection with a robust marketing campaign featuring all the riders and rolling out print advertising, film sponsorships, events and a dedicated website.

The new snowboard line from Adidas complements the brand’s foray into skateboarding seven years earlier.
