Aspen Prepares for Annual Ski Movie Festival

Aspen, CO – Aspen/Snowmass has announced the full movie schedule for the ninth year of The Meeting, happening in Aspen, Colo., September 26 –28.  The event will deliver a packed schedule of many top 2013-2014 ski and snowboard movies, live music, parties, activities and a conference with industry speakers.

“The Meeting has developed into much more than the iconic kick-off to the snow season with the best snow films,” says Deric Gunshor, Senior Event Marketing Manager, Aspen Skiing Company. “Last year marked a huge step forward for the conference portion of the event delivering valuable insights, powerful dialog and unparalleled networking opportunities. This year promises to build upon that progress in partnership with Group Y to bring some of the greatest minds inside and out of the industry.”

The NEPSA Awards will once again be the kick-off event for The Meeting. The NEPSA Awards are a chance to check out some creative shorts from local and regional videographers and athletes that have an emphasis on fun and incorporate one of this year’s themes: Dawn Patrol, Apocalypse, Sunday FunDay. Entrants compete via fan voting for their share of a $3,500 prize purse.

DJ Shadow will perform with Salva as this year’s headline musical artist. DJ Shadow is widely credited as a key figure in developing the experimental instrumental hip-hop style associated with the London-based Mo’ Wax label. Inspired by hip-hop’s early years, he then grew to absorb the heyday of crews like Eric B. & Rakim, Ultramagnetic MCs, and Public Enemy; groups which prominently featured DJs in their ranks. Shadow’s first full-length, “Endtroducing…”, was released in late 1996 to critical acclaim in Britain and America.

Individual show tickets for movies at the Wagner Park Theater and live music at the Belly Up are now on sale. Tickets to movies at the Wagner Park Theater will be sold separately through the Wheeler Opera House box office or online at www.aspenshowtix.com. Tickets for music and movies at the Belly Up Aspen will be available through the Belly Up Box office and online at www.bellyupaspen.com/events. The D&E and Four-Mountain Sports Fashion Show at the Belly Up will be free to the public but tickets must be purchased for the DJ Shadow show that follows.

For movie trailers and event information visit www.aspensnowmass.com/themeeting. The conference, activities and industry happy hour will only be accessible to those registered for The Meeting. Information on the conference speakers and registration is available by visiting www.aspensnowmass.com/meetingreg.  The registration fee for The Meeting is $349 per person, which includes all of the panels, movies, activities, music and parties.
