Ski Lift Accident in New Hampshire Injures Two

Roxbury Center, NH – A collision between two lift chairs at Granite Gorge ski area over the weekend left two riders injured.

The incident occurred at around 2:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon, when one chair on the base-to-summit Pinnacle Express Double Chairlift at Granite Gorge slid backwards along the cable and collided with another, trapping four people.

Two injured riders were transported to Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene with unknown injuries, while two riders in the other chair involved in the collision declined medical attention. Three other uninjured riders had to be evacuated from the stopped chairlift by ski patrol and fire department personnel.

The lift was closed pending an inspection by the New Hampshire Tramway and Amusement Ride Safety Board. Granite Gorge officials indicate that following an inspection of the lift by the local fire department, the Tramway Board has allowed the lift to reopen.
