U.S. Grand Prix Continues at Park City

Park City, UT – The second stop of the 2016 U.S. Grand Prix tour will be held in Utah this week, with the world’s top freeskiers and snowboarders competing in Park City Mountain Resort’s halfpipe.

The event will serve as the second World Cup of the year and points will also go towards and the Association of Freeskiing Professionals (AFP) rankings and the World Snowboard Tour (WST) rankings. Both events will be broadcast on NBC and NBCSN along with live streaming of the finals on NBC Sports Live Extra.

The world’s top freeskiing and snowboarding athletes are fresh off competition at the 2016 X Games Aspen, where the U.S. earned 21 medals, including gold picked up by Maddie Bowman (South Lake Tahoe, Calif.), Chloe Kim (La Palma, Calif.) and Matt Ladley (Steamboat Springs, Colo,). A host of U.S. Olympians are scheduled to compete at the Park City stop of the U.S. Grand Prix, including Sochi champions Bowman and David Wise, as well as three-time medalist Kelly Clark.

Park City has a long history of holding elite-level winter sports competitions. Host of the 2002 Olympic snowboarding halfpipe event, Park City Mountain is continuing its legacy by hosting freeskiing and snowboarding events such as the U.S. Grand Prix. Park City resorts will also host the 2019 FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships.
