Killington Reopens, This Time to the Public

Killington, VT – Although it offered a weekend of October skiing and riding to its season pass holders, Vermont’s Killington Resort has not been open to the public this winter season until today.

The resort’s snowmakers were able to set up over 100 snow guns on Upper Great Northern and Rime over the weekend, resulting in Killington’s public opening at 9 a.m. this morning.  Skiing and riding is taking place today on un-groomed, advanced terrain only under the guns on Upper Great Northern and Rime trails so that the resort can maximize its snowmaking effort. Skiers and riders are making turns on roughly 600 vertical feet of terrain. No beginner terrain or terrain park features are available at this time.

The K-1 Express Gondola and North Ridge Triple will spin until 4 p.m. today, with the K-1 Express Gondola providing uploading and downloading service. Guests are using Great Northern to access terrain in the North Ridge area and will need to return to the K-1 Express Gondola via the Peak Walkway to download.
