Wyoming’s Targhee Holding Telemark Ski Festival

Alta, WY – Ski demos, clinics, costumes, parties and a mini huck contest await participants in the Fifth Annual Targhee Telemark Festival at Wyoming’s Grand Targhee Resort Friday, March 4 through Monday, March 7.n“Grand Targhee Resort is a well-known haven for telemark skiers, offering consistent powder turns and fall lines, open bowls, steeps, cruisers and trees,” said Mark Hanson. “The Targhee Telemark Festival celebrates a long tradition of telemark skiing at Grand Targhee and draws a fun and festive crowd every year.”

The latest telemark skis will be available for demo daily starting Saturday at 8:00 a.m. on the Main Plaza.
Friday, March 4th kicks off the festival with discounted lift tickets at $40 and pre-registration for the weekend’s festivities at Ski School from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

On Saturday, March 5th coffee and breakfast goodies will be served up during registration at 8:15 a.m. in RCR North before the telemark clinics head out on to the hill from 9:00 a.m. until noon and again at 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Screen Door Porch will play après at the Trap Bar, and Black Diamond Equipment will sponsor a beacon demo and search competition.

In addition to telemark clinics on Sunday, March 6 the signature “disco turns” competition will be held at 1:00 p.m. with the mini-tele-huckfest to follow at 3:30 p.m. Those with the best reggae-inspired costumes will be awarded with prizes, and the wrap party and prize drawing will start at 4:00 p.m. on the Trap Bar deck. The final day of the festival, Monday, March 7th features a 9:00 a.m. trip into the backcountry for intermediate and advanced skiers with Yostmark Backcountry Tours.
