By a vote of 22-7 the overwhelming Republican majority in the Senate squelched Democratic opposition to SCR10, which supports implementation of a plan to connect Alta Ski Area and Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort in Little Cottonwood Canyon, Solitude Mountain Resort and Brighton Resort in Big Cottonwood Canyon, and Canyons Resort, Deer Valley Resort and Park City Mountain Resort, all three of which are located along the Wasatch Back.  While the plan could be accomplished via ski lifts and runs, it could also involve enlarging existing mine tunnels to accommodate vehicular traffic or other measures.

The resolution is now being sent to the Utah House of Representatives.

Meanwhile, a bill that calls for a swap of U.S. Forest Service land to facilitate construction of a gondola linking Canyons Resort with Solitude Mountain Resort continues its journey through the U.S. Congress.
