The Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) assessed the administrative fee to settle violations of the Montana Underground Storage Tank Act. The DEQ alleged that the ski area failed to have an underground fuel tank inspected within the three-year time frame specified by the Act, and did not have in place a system to detect for leaks.

Lost Trail paid the fine, and submitted 12 months of monitoring records to resolve the administrative enforcement action.
