Montana Snowbowl Adds New Lift to New Summit

Missoula, MT – Skiers and riders visiting Montana Snowbowl this winter will find a whole new experience, thanks to a new chairlift going in to the top of TV Mountain.

The new lift, an old Riblet double repurposed from Aspen, will rise 1,300 vertical feet to a new summit to looker’s left west of existing terrain, that’s named for the plethora of transmission towers at its top. It will serve primarily beginner and intermediate terrain, the kind of skiing that’s in been somewhat short supply at Snowbowl up until now. Snowbowl just started cutting the new runs at the beginning of this month, but they’re said to have a more rolling flow to them, speckled with tree islands to add character.

Snowbowl officials plan to install a second Riblet double obtained from Aspen from the base area to the top of TV Mountain within two years.

Both new lifts are part of Snowbowl’s Master Plan approved by the U.S. Forest Service in 2014. It eventually calls for eight lifts and 80 ski runs at buildout.
