Brundage Brings Ski Lessons and Rails to Town

McCall, ID – Brundage Mountain Resort has improved and expanded The Activity Barn, Valley County, Idaho’s only lift-assisted snow tubing operation, located two miles south of McCall. A new conveyor lift this winter will bring beginner ski lessons and a rail park off the mountain and into town.

The new 600-foot Sun Kid conveyor, commonly known as a magic carpet lift, will comfortably transport guests to the top of the hill in less than three minutes, tripling the uphill capacity to 600 people per hour.  Skiers and snowboarders can use the new conveyor to take advantage of a new rail park, and the Brundage Mountain Ski & Ride School will be providing beginner ski lessons on gentle, groomed slopes at the Activity Barn on weekends, holidays and by reservation. This allows beginners and families to try out the sport of skiing at a convenient location and on a slope that is ideal for learning.

“Our goal is to strengthen the strong family environment that already exists at The Activity Barn,” stated Bob Looper, Brundage Mountain President and Managing Director.  “Safety, affordability and fun are our goals, and we feel the new, expanded snow park is the perfect place for families to come and have a great time during the day or under the lights in the evening.”

When novice skiers and riders are ready to move up to the big mountain, Brundage will be offering free lift tickets on its beginner Easy Street chairlift all season long. Visitors of any age will be able to visit the ticket office to pick up a free Easy Street lift ticket any day of the 2015-16 winter season.

“We want to give people a ‘free sample’ of the Brundage Mountain experience because we’re confident that they’ll fall in love with the sports of skiing and snowboarding,” said resort spokesperson, April Whitney.

The Activity Barn is also investing in an additional 100 tubes, boosting tube capacity to 250 to cut down on delays on high-volume days. Crews plan to construct up to six 800-foot tubing lanes during the winter season.

New snowmaking equipment will enable crews to cover the entire six-acre site in time for Thanksgiving weekend, if temperatures permit.  Brundage Mountain is hosting its Pray for Snow Party at the Activity Barn site on Friday, November 27.
