Vernon, NJ – A 44-year-old doctor is accused of punching a 12-year-old boy in the mouth and striking him with a ski pole in what police are describing as a case of “ski rage” at Mountain Creek Resort in New Jersey.
Samuel G. Caruthers of Mountain Lakes, N.J., an anesthesiologist, was reportedly angered when the boy fell into Caruthers and his child on the slopes of Mountain Creek on Sunday, precipitating the alleged outburst.
Police at the scene reported that the boy suffered visible injuries in the attack.
Caruthers has been charged with second-degree aggravated assault and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child. He has been released pending a court appearance.
